Hello, I am a new owner of a 2001 7401 sport model and also new to this forum. My new used car had 43k on it and records show the appropriate maintenance to date. Does the list recommend any preventative maint on any specifics? I see that most if not oils used are synthetic. I am familiar with Redline synthetic fluids, which I would like to use? I also notice that the specs call for no fluid changes to the trans or final drive gear unit, I think these should be changed as well? Any advice? Also, in my experience I have had very good luck in iron and aluminum engines running 33% coolant (I live in CA no hard freeze issues) with red line "water wetter". Engines appear to run a little cooler? Any suggestions there?

I am very excited about my new used first BMW. [driving] I know I am going to get carried away with mods someday! I am sure I will post inquiries for simplier engine mods i.e. chips etc.

Thanks in advance [pray]

Welcome to the forum and congrats on the car. [burnout]
You can use whatever synthetic oil you are comfortable with, just make sure to have the car's oil changed at appropriate levels.
It's also not a bad idea at all to change the other fluids even though the manual states you don't have to. You do want the car to run for as long as possible, as strong as possible.

[welcome]

Can't hurt to change the fluids on your car. Preventive maintenance. Just make sure you take it to a mechanic that knows BMWs. I think some stuff has to be like heated to a certain temp before adding or something like that.

Everyone has been Great!

[clap] Thanks for everyone who welcomes me to this board. I am looking forward to getting up to speed on my first new used BMW! I think I will want to find out what to use to spruce it up to show room quality i.e. finish wax and leather cleaning and conditioning.

Again, Thanks! [burnout]
