Low end throttle response problem.

93 325i - I'm not sure if I have a problem with my low end throttle respnse. The initial acceloration from a stop seems to be very slow for the first few seconds. It seems really slow. After about a second or two it responds as I would expect it to. During normal driving it isn't noticeable, but under full throttle it seems really weak. I am looking into replacing the fuel filter as a possible solution. A job I would do anyway as I have just purchased the car and as a rule do that. Is this normal for these cars?

Thanks

Sarge

if this is your first beemer maybe you should know that bmw's aren't low end cars. a tune up might be in order for sure. i would check my throttle links first but you can never go wrong with a tune-up

I would check your ignition coils . . . . . that may be the problem.

I have an 92 325 auto tranny and mine is fine and doesn't lag.

and it's BIMMER . . .

to my knowledge nothing has been done to the engine. The car seems to accelorate as expected when starting from a dead stop under normal acceloration. The problem is when you accelorate hard from a dead stop. Otherwise the acceloration seems fine. It also accelorates fine under hard acceloration above 15mph.

Someone told me that if the head has been worked on there may be a chance that the camshafts where not set correctly with the VANOS. That maybe causing a problem.

My car has an automatic transmission, and any acceleration up to about 2800/3000 rpm is "doggy"..I dont know what rear end ratio is in the car, buy i would guess something around 3.5 to 1. It really doesnt lend itself to low end. The thing begins to come into its own from about 2800 up to 6700 rpm..If your doing any straight line "playing"..dont do it from a dead stop..he he he....

Change the spark plugs.. just did mine and it made a world of difference. A new air filter would help too

take out that gay airbox and slap in a big boy K&N. you won't regret it
Again you're filled with wrong information.

K and N is great except it'll simply remove the airbox that bmw engineers designed (BMW, not chevy or hyundai). I guarantee if you put your stock airbox back on, except for being quieter, it either won't change or you'll gain more power back.

I see this with both my NA m20 motor and my friends recently-sold twin turbo 3000GT.
